Pilar’s case
Pilar, 63, came to the clinic to treat excess weight with significant fat accumulation on the posterior surface of the upper arm (tricep area). She had the typical “bat wings” or “bingo wings” effect, with very visible and troublesome sagging.
The combination of excess fat and laxity made the arm contour look heavy and aged, affecting both her appearance and her daily comfort.
Treatment options
The classic option for this type of problem is arm dermolipectomy (brachioplasty), which removes skin and fat but leaves a long scar along the inner arm.
Dr. Martín Gastón prefers to reserve this technique only for cases where no reasonable alternative exists, precisely because of the extent of scarring it involves. In Pilar’s case, it was assessed that a less invasive and equally effective option was available.
Treatment performed
NATURAL FIT® Body Contouring proposed a less invasive alternative: arm liposuction with MicroAire and skin retractors.
MicroAire liposuction is a power-assisted technique that allows more precise and controlled fat removal, with less tissue trauma and generally faster recovery than traditional liposuction.
The tricep fat was specifically targeted and skin retractors were used to help the skin adapt better to the new volume, thereby improving the overall arm contour.
