Amanda’s case
Amanda, 34 years old, presented with a pronounced abdominal apron: excess skin and tissue in the abdominal area that hung visibly. In this situation, even addressing the fat alone through liposuction would not have produced the desired aesthetic outcome, as the skin would have remained sagging regardless.
Her goal was a flatter, more defined abdomen, eliminating the “hanging abdomen” effect that caused her significant discomfort in daily life.
The problem before surgery
Before the procedure, Amanda had an abdomen with a significant apron: excess skin and tissue in the lower abdominal area. In such cases, liposuction alone is not sufficient — even after aspirating the fat, the excess skin would continue to droop, giving the abdomen a loose, sagging appearance.
For this reason, it was determined that the best option was not simply to remove fat, but also to excise the excess skin in order to achieve a real and lasting change in abdominal contour.
Surgical plan: why a dermolipectomy was chosen
After reviewing the case, a dermolipectomy (abdominoplasty) combined with liposuction was planned. The rationale was clear:
- With liposuction alone, the abdomen would have remained sagging.
- The dermolipectomy would allow removal of the abdominal apron and tightening of the area.
- The goal was to fully remodel Amanda’s trunk, not merely reduce volume.
What was done
Amanda’s surgery addressed the entire trunk contour comprehensively. The procedure included:
- Liposuction of the entire abdomen.
- Liposuction of all the flanks.
- Liposuction of the full back and posterior area.
The patient was then repositioned so that all excess tissue from the abdominal apron could be excised. In addition, the navel was repositioned to its new location, aligned with the now-tightened and remodelled abdomen, delivering a very natural aesthetic outcome.
Scar and aesthetic result
The scar is completely hidden beneath underwear or a bikini, making it invisible in everyday life. The definition of the abdomen is evident when comparing the before and after photographs: the abdominal contour appears much flatter, firmer, and more defined, and the abdominal apron has been eliminated.
The dermolipectomy scar is completely concealed beneath underwear and is not visible at any point in daily life.
Post-operative habits
During her recovery, Amanda followed a nutritional programme to maintain and enhance her surgical result. As she preferred not to engage in any formal sport re-education, she was given basic guidelines for gradually resuming her normal daily activities, with the focus primarily on dietary management.
This straightforward plan allowed her to sustain the improvement achieved through the dermolipectomy without requiring major changes to her exercise routine, demonstrating that every case is adapted to the patient’s real preferences and circumstances.
