LIPOSUCTION
Basic liposuction is a procedure assisted by a vacuum suction mechanism (mechanical vacuum pump less than 1ATM pressure) that is capable of absorbing the removed fatty tissue and recovering it in a reservoir to later be discarded or reused as a graft in other body parts. Ultrasound (Ultrasonic Liposuction such as Vaser or Heus), laser (Laser Liposculpture) and vibration (PAL Power Assisted Liposuction such as Microaire) are the technological evolution of the basic technique, they have cannulas of different lengths and calibers than through other types of energies. They allow the removal of fatty tissue from different parts of the body, improving and harmonizing the body contour.
Liposuction is a safe, sometimes minimally invasive practice for both men and women. It is a reliable treatment with quick recovery in specialized hands. Statistically today it is the second most requested surgery in our daily practice and there are no age limits for its performance. It can be used therapeutically as a treatment for different pathologies or
for purely aesthetic purposes. Its synonyms can be liposculpture, the latter being used when more than one area is treated at a time, seeking a balance in the body format. The good condition of the skin is important.

1- There is no best method for practice and as in any surgery the appropriate indication for the case is the key to success, it cannot be denied that the most modern equipment in trained hands offers excellent results.
2- The entire body can be treated with this technique although the most required places are the abdomen, thighs (riding pants or holsters), their inner surface, buttocks, knees, jowls, arms, etc.
3-Drains are not used.
4- The surgery takes an average of 1 and a half hours, and may be shortened or prolonged depending on the regions to be treated.
5- Anesthesia can be local in small areas, local with sedation or general depending on the extent of the areas to be intervened.
6- It can be performed on an outpatient basis for reduced fatty accumulations or require a few hours of recovery that rarely exceeds 24 hours when more than one area is treated. The final recovery time ranges from 20-30 days on average, although they can resume their work, as long as it does not require effort, after approximately 48 hours.
7- To avoid undesirable hematomas and large edema, compressive garments are used for up to a month after surgery. Rapid mobilization of the patient reduces the risk of complications. It is essential at this stage to carry out the controls that the Surgeon considers relevant.
8- Sensitivity usually recovers before 6 months with periods that go from anesthesia to normal.
9- Complications are currently uncommon: hemorrhages, seromas, infections, poor healing quality and the much feared fat embolism.
10- The removed fat never comes back.
